Flight Information
There are many routes available to Scalea, Calabria, some of which offer a great opportunity to stay overnight and see some of the wonders of Italy.
Ryan Air, BA, EasyJet, BMI Baby, Aer Lingus are just some of the airlines offering flights to Rome, Naples and Milan with connecting flights to Lamezia where an airport transfer service can be provided, also direct flights from New York (JFK) are available direct to Lamezia. Please note that times vary according to the time of year and flight times, destinations and prices are subject to change at any time. There are regular train services from Rome and Naples, there is a daily coach service from Rome direct to Scalea town centre and it is also possible to arrange a mini airport transfer from Naples to Scalea, details on our SERVICES page.
ABOUT MILAN
If you are travelling via Milan, why not stay overnight and take in some of the wonderful sights the city has to offer. In addition to being the fashion capital of the world, with more designer stores than anywhere else, there is a wealth of history and culture to discover. First on the list of “must see” is the beautiful white Duomo. This immense Gothic cathedral that took over 500 years to complete and from the roof the view extends as far as the Alps. Next to the Piazza del Duomo is the famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, the elegant shopping arcade where you can watch the passing parade of fashionistas!
There are many art galleries where the works of da Vinci, Carravaggio and Raphael are on view and in the church of Santa Maria della Grazie you can see Leonardo’s Last Supper, however tourist numbers are restricted and booking is required.
Any time you have left can be spent visiting La Scala opera house or the famous San Siro football stadium which is home to AC Milan.

ABOUT ROME
There are so many ancient sights in the city that it is worth taking one of the many tour buses to get around.
Top of the list is the Colosseum, where the gladiators fought to survive and it has become the top tourist attraction in Rome.
The Forum is the central area around which the ancient Rome developed and it was the administrative and corporate heart of the city.
Other sights include the Pantheon, the Aqueducts, Baths of Caracalla, the Catacombs and
The Spanish Steps.
Trevi Fountain (Fontana di Trevi)
Made famous in so many Italian films, the Trevi fountain was originally inspired by Roman triumphal arches. It is the largest and most famous Baroque fountain in Rome.
Piazza Navona
The many squares and piazzas are another of the main attractions of the city… this is where people meet to chat, enjoy coffee and pastries and in the evening to enjoy the many “happy hours” around the city. There are restaurants, ice cream bars and music in the evenings. Opposite the square is the famous church of Sant’ Agnese in Agone.
Roman basilicas and churches
There are over 19 basilicas in Rome, three most famous are St Peter’s, St John in Laterna and the most magnificent church in the world, the wonderful Santa Maria Maggiore.
